6 Beauty Tips to Look Your Best During the Holiday Season
Can you believe it’s already December? With the end of the year already upon us, people tend to wonder what they can do to look great at holiday parties and at family gatherings. Visiting a board-certified cosmetic plastic surgeon can help, but there are other things you can do without going under the knife.
Many patients in the Dallas, TX area visit Dr. Mark A. Deuber around this time of year for non-invasive and minimally invasive cosmetic procedures. While these are certainly helpful, we want to share a few simple beauty tips for the holidays that don’t require professional treatment.
1. Take Care of Your Hair
By the time December rolls around, you may notice that your hair looks a little drab. Maybe the color has faded, or it may lack that bounce and vibrance it previously had. Consider having your hair done before the holidays kick into high gear if you’ve been neglecting it lately. You should also use shampoos, conditioners, and styling products that nourish and enhance your hair without stripping away natural oils.
2. Change Up Your Makeup
The holiday season can be a great way to add more style to your wardrobe as well as your makeup routine. Change things up and get creative. Consider a different eyeliner that complements your eye color. Maybe wear some mascara or fake eyelashes to enhance your eyes in general. Highlight your cheekbones a bit with a light eyeshadow, and consider a vibrant shade of lipstick for the holiday season.
3. Moisturizing and Hydration Is Essential
The winter is dry, and that takes its toll on your skin. It’s important to stay hydrated and moisturized. Drink water throughout the day, invest in a humidifier for your bedroom, and use some sort of lip balm to avoid cracking and dryness. Avoid very hot water in the shower or bath (which strips away oils from the skin), and moisturize with heavy creams and thick lotions once you’re done cleaning off.
4. Eat Healthy During the Holidays
We tend to think about rich foods and sweets during holiday feasts, as well as hot chocolate, spiced cider, and champagne. While a little bit of indulgence is great during the holidays, do your best to eat healthy. That means having fresh fruits and vegetables as much as you can, and avoiding heavily processed foods. There are plenty of healthy options during the holiday season, such as tangerines, Brussels sprouts, and pomegranates.
5. Fitness Is a Must Amid the Holiday Rush
You may be traveling or spending quality time with your loved ones this holiday season, but don’t neglect your body’s needs. Try to find time to exercise. Strength training, cardio, or yoga, it doesn’t matter what you do necessarily; what matters is making time for personal wellness. Even a simple walk for 20 to 30 minutes each day can work wonders for weight management and stress relief.
6. Get Enough Sleep Every Night
Beauty sleep is a real thing. If you go a few nights without enough sleep, it can take its toll on your appearance and your mood. Your body needs sleep to repair itself and energize after a long day. Even when things get hectic during the holidays, make enough time to sleep each night. A restful seven to nine hours of sleep will work wonders for your appearance and the energy you bring wherever you’re headed.
