What Causes Thin Lips as You Age?

The lips are one of the most noticeable facial features. They tend to attract attention when people are speaking or making facial expressions because the human eye is naturally drawn to objects that move. When the appearance of the lips is further enhanced with the use of lipstick, preferably in a bright color, this prominence is even more obvious. (more…)

5 Non-surgical Facelift Alternatives

The facelift isn’t the only option for facial rejuvenation and wrinkle reduction. In fact, non-surgical approaches to treatment have grown in popularity over the years.

Dr. Mark A. Deuber is proud to offer a wide array of non-surgical anti-aging cosmetic treatments that can help patients look years younger.

We’d like to go over five options for effective non-surgical treatment that may be right for you. You can learn more about these and other cosmetic procedures by visiting our Dallas, TX plastic surgery center.

BOTOX® Injections

BOTOX® injections are the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment option available today. More than 7.2 million BOTOX® cosmetic procedures were performed in 2017, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons.

BOTOX® injections prevent muscle contractions from occurring in the injection site. This helps reduce the appearance of dynamic wrinkles, such as forehead lines, crow’s feet, and smile lines.

The results of BOTOX® injections last for several months. At that point, a patient can undergo another BOTOX® injection treatment to prolong the cosmetic benefits.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal filler is a term applied to another kind of cosmetic injectable. Rather than stopping muscle contractions, dermal fillers add volume to the injection site. It’s a great option to consider for lines and wrinkles, and can even fill in the gaunt, sunken in, or hollow parts of a person’s facial features.

Some popular examples of dermal fillers include Juvéderm® XC and RADIESSE®.

The results of dermal fillers can last for several months or more depending on the type of filler and the issue the patient needed addressed. Repeat dermal filler treatment can extend the cosmetic benefits.

Infini RF Microneedling

Infini RF Microneedling uses the body’s own response to certain stimuli to promote better skin. During Infini RF Microneedling treatment, a handheld device with tiny needles is passed over the skin.

These needles transmit radiofrequency heat energy into deeper layers of the skin. Precisely targeted amounts of minor thermal damage promote the production of new collagen, which tightens the skin and makes it appear supple and youthful.

Infini RF Microneedling is ideal for:

  • Facial lines
  • Poor skin texture
  • Acne scars
  • Loose skin
  • Sagging skin

Sciton HALO Hybrid Fractional Laser

The Sciton HALO Hybrid Fractional Laser is a state-of-the-art approach to laser skin resurfacing. Combining non-ablative and ablative lasers, the HALO laser can address different kinds of skin damage.

The damaged, topmost layer of skin is removed while collagen production is promoted in the deeper layers of skin, improving skin texture and appearance.

The Sciton HALO Hybrid Fractional Laser is ideal for:

  • Sun damage
  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Skin discoloration
  • Uneven skin tone
  • Enlarged pores

Sciton Broadband Light (BBL)

The Sciton BroadBand Light (BBL) is one of the leading intense pulsed light (IPL) devices available. During IPL photorejuventation, intense pulses of light are shined onto the treatment area.

This light causes the collagen and blood vessels of the skin to constrict in response. The tightening of the skin is great for addressing a number of cosmetic problems.

The Sciton BroadBand Light (BBL) is ideal for:

  • Poor skin texture
  • Skin discolorations
  • Enlarged pores
  • Wrinkles
  • Fine lines
  • Rosacea

Non-invasive Ways to Improve Your Appearance by the Holidays

The holidays are upon us, which means a chance for new beginnings and fresh starts. It also means closing out 2018 on a high note. You can visit our state-of-the-art plastic surgery and cosmetic skin care center in Dallas, TX for professional revitalization before the end of the year. Then again, there are several things you can do at home to improve your appearance this holiday season.

Dr. Mark A. Deuber and his team would like to share a few tips for enhancing your appearance and fighting signs of aging before the new year. This advice can make a major difference in how you look and feel.

Moisturize Deeply

The drier air during wintertime can do a number on your skin. That’s why it’s so important to use heavy duty moisturizers during the colder, low-humidity months.

Find a body lotion that’s a little heavier than usual but still delicate on your skin. In terms of facial moisturizers, you may want to consider heavy creams, overnight moisturizing products, and oil-based moisturizing products.

Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate

Your skin needs hydration inside and out. Be sure to drink lots of water during the winter months to make sure your body is getting the moisture it needs.

Also, consider investing in a humidifier if your home is dry during the wintertime. This can make a major difference in your appearance and general comfort this holiday season.

Exfoliate Your Skin

Moisturizing, hydrating, and humidifying are helpful, but don’t forget to exfoliate. Removing the dead, dry skin cells on your face will help reveal softer, smoother skin and give you an added glow. Use gentle exfoliating products to ensure you’re getting the benefits of exfoliation without harming your skin in the process.

Don’t Skip Out on Exercise

You may be busy getting work done and running errands before holiday travel plans. You’re certainly keeping occupied, but it’s not the same as staying active through exercise. Be sure to make time for exercise each day. This will help you look and feel great, and will help you burn some of those extra calories from Thanksgiving.

Moderation and Portion Control

On the note of Thanksgiving, you may have lots of leftovers to finish, but that’s not a good excuse to overeat. Practice portion control during the winter months to avoid packing on the pounds. Remember to focus on eating healthy whole foods, and to avoid snacking on sugary holiday treats.

Step Up Your Makeup Game

During the holidays, you can change your makeup routine to help brighten and lighten up your features. Remember to even out your skin tone with foundation, and to use concealer on dark splotches and blemishes. You can bring out a warm, summery glow in your facial features even in these winter months.

Visit Your Hair Stylist

The winter may be time to liven up your hair. Getting highlights or changing your hairstyle can make a major difference as the year comes to a close. Speak with your stylist about what you can do to rejuvenate your look.

Make Time to Relax

We know that the holidays are an extremely stressful time for a lot of reasons. Even though you’re trying to get everything done before the end of the year, be sure to make time for relaxation. Meditation, yoga, or even just sitting quietly in the moment each day can help improve your sense of well-being.
